Abstract:
Clothing thermal resistance is one of main physical parameters influencing dressing comfort. In this study, 20 kinds of typical male ethnic costumes were selected from 20 Chinese minority groups. They were divided into 6 groups based on their style characteristics. The overall and local static thermal resistance of those male ethnic costumes is measured with thermal manikin. T he differences and change trend of local thermal resistance of inter-group and intra-group clothing as well as relevant factors influencing thermal resistance of clothing were investigated. R esearch results show that, local thermal resistance of clothing is related to the body posture, local structure of clothing, wearing ways and clothing weight. The local thermal resistance of those ethnic costumes is distributed unevenly; thermal resistance of clothing at the back is higher than that at the front; thermal resistance at the abdomen and the lower back is greater than that of the chest and the upper back; thermal resistance at the pelvis is the largest
